Social Media Overflows With Prayers For Melissa Jenkins Kristen O'Hare opened Facebook on Monday to find her news feed filled with postings about Melissa Jenkins. "I didn't know her personally," O'Hare said on Tuesday. "But every friend that I have from St. Johnsbury had this posted." O'Hare, who is a 2002 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy and now lives in Nashville, Tenn., wanted to contribute in some way so she did what she knows: creating a community through social media. "I felt the need to do something and that was the best I could do, knowing the power of social media. It really is the best way to get information out there." orleanscountyrecord.com/main.asp?SectionID=7&SubSectionID=32&ArticleID=22095

Community mourns St. Johnsbury teacher after discovery of woman's body ST. JOHNSBURY — Police expect an autopsy Tuesday will confirm that a body found Monday afternoon in the Northeast Kingdom is that of Melissa Jenkins, a popular teacher and waitress whom detectives say was abducted from her SUV in front of her 2-year-old son. Half an hour after police announced they had recovered the body off a remote road in Barnet, some 200 people converged on The Creamery Restaurant in Danville for an evening vigil. Jenkins, 33, waited tables at the restaurant part-time for 12 years while working full-time as a science teacher at St. Johnsbury Academy. www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20120326/NEWS07/120326001/melissa-jenkins-st-johnsbury?nclick_check=1

Charges upgraded against alleged killers of Melissa Jenkins ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. - One of the suspects accused in the murder of popular St. Johnsbury teacher Melissa Jenkins allegedly confessed to her cellmates, and forensic evidence indicates the murder was premeditated. Now prosecutors have upped the charges to first-degree murder. A ripped up note, torn into 101 pieces found by a prison guard tells the story. Inmates say the note was written by Patricia Prue herself, as they pieced it together phrases like "why we did it," "blonde hair," and "sexually attracted" came together. It's just one piece of evidence that gave prosecutors what they were looking for and could keep Patricia and Allen Prue behind bars for the rest of their lives. www.wcax.com/story/18858788/charges-upgraded-against-alleged-killers-of-melissa-jenkins
