The Vermont State Police continue to investigate the disappearance of Brianna Maitland, who was last seen leaving her place of employment, the Black Lantern Inn, located in Montgomery, VT on Friday night, March 19th, 2004. Brianna’s vehicle, a green 1985 Oldsmobile was discovered the following day backed into an abandoned house approximately one mile from the Black Lantern Inn.
During the time since Brianna’s disappearance the Vermont State Police have conducted an extensive investigation which has included multiple searches by law enforcement, in addition to searches with assistance from the Klaas Kids Foundation. State Police Detectives have followed numerous leads in this case and continue to explore any and all investigative avenues that may lead to Brianna’s whereabouts.
At this time there is no indication that Brianna willingly left the area. Detectives have followed up on numerous sightings both in and outside of Vermont, none of which have been substantiated. Investigation thus far indicates a strong possibility that Brianna was a victim of foul play. The Vermont State Police remain optimistic that someone with information surrounding Brianna’s disappearance will come forward to authorities.
The Maitland family continues to offer a $20,000 reward for information. This reward includes $10,000 for anyone who can identify the exact location of Brianna and $10,000 for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for her disappearance.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Vermont State Police Detective Lieutenant Glenn Hall at the St. Albans Barracks, (802)524-5993.
