New combat deployment looming for Vt Air Guard COLCHESTER, Vt. - A large deployment is expected for the Green Mountain Boys next year. That's according to the commander of the Vermont National Guard who is stepping down this summer to take a major military promotion. Maj. Gen. Michael Dubie says he plans to transfer authority as leader of the Vermont Guard during a change of command ceremony in early August. In mid-August, he'll transfer to Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado where he'll become a three-star lieutenant general and deputy commander of the U.S. Northern Command, called USNORTHCOM. That's the number two post in the U.S. military's homeland defense mission. www.wcax.com/story/18770952/new-combat-deployment-looming-for-vt-air-guard
